Despite the challenges faced during the 2010 California drought\, a resilient grove of towering redwood trees continues to thrive within the park’s boundaries. \nOur journey will focus on the Carbon Canyon trail\, which features smooth dirt paths\, roads\, and the occasional concrete sidewalk. The hike begins with a refreshing creek crossing\, setting the stage for a relaxing and immersive nature experience. Its diverse landscape\, including mountains\, creeks\, and wildlife\, makes it an ideal spot for a scenic adventure. \nOur hike will take us along the Ann Skager Trail Loop\, a four-mile journey that will lead us to the park’s nature center. We’ll pause for lunch at the picnic area before retracing our steps back to the trailhead. The path includes both paved and dirt sections\, and the terrain is gentle\, with a 100-foot elevation gain and loss\, making it a moderate hike suitable for most skill levels. \nTransportation Options:\nHFS is offering bus transportation to Malibu Creek. The bus will depart from Live Oak Park in Temple City at 8:00 AM\, with a second stop at Balboa Sports Complex in Encino at 8:45 AM. Our goal is to arrive at the park around 9:45 AM.
