SUMMARY:Carbon Canyon
DESCRIPTION:Explore the Redwoods: A Scenic Trek through Carbon Canyon Regional Park \nSunday\, May 18\, 2025 \nTrailhead Location: 4500 Carbon Canyon Road\, Brea\, CA 92823 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Hearts For Sight (HFS) and the Sierra Club are excited to invite you on a memorable adventure through the beautiful landscapes of Chino Hills State Park and Carbon Canyon Regional Park\, nestled in northern Orange County near Brea. \nChino Hills State Park covers an impressive 14\,000 acres\, featuring rolling hills\, wide grasslands\, and lush woodlands—a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Directly adjacent to it\, Carbon Canyon Regional Park offers a more serene experience\, with its tranquil surroundings and family-friendly atmosphere\, all shaped by the damming of Carbon Canyon Creek. Despite the challenges faced during the 2010 California drought\, a resilient grove of towering redwood trees continues to thrive within the park’s boundaries. \nOur journey will focus on the Carbon Canyon trail\, which features smooth dirt paths\, roads\, and the occasional concrete sidewalk. The hike begins with a refreshing creek crossing\, setting the stage for a relaxing and immersive nature experience. The trail leads us into the awe-inspiring redwood grove\, providing a peaceful retreat surrounded by shade and serenity. \nFollowing our exploration of the grove\, we’ll loop back through the park\, where we can unwind and enjoy a leisurely lunch on the grassy lawns or at the picnic tables. With only four miles to cover and minimal elevation gain of 100 feet\, this hike promises to be a perfect blend of exploration and relaxation in a stunning natural setting. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Transportation and Lunch Provided!\nHFS will provide bus transportation from designated pick-up spots in Encino and Temple City. Details will be shared upon receiving your RSVPs. Alternatively\, you’re welcome to drive directly to the trailhead. A delicious lunch will be provided for all participants. \nSighted Guides Needed!\nWe’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to guide visually impaired participants (VIPs) and help them experience the outdoors with confidence! No experience is required—we’ll provide training. \nFirst-time guides: Please contact Racquel Decipeda at 818-457-1482 for a quick orientation. \nLunch Provided – RSVP Required!\nTo help us plan for lunch\, please RSVP as soon as possible. To reserve your spot\, email us at hearts4sight@gmail.com. Be sure to include: \n\nYour full name (Let us know if this is your first HFS/Sierra Club hike and whether you’re a VIP or sighted guide)\nYour contact phone number\nYour guest’s full name (if applicable)\nGuest’s email and phone number\n\nWe look forward to seeing you all soon as we explore and enjoy the wonders of Carbon Canyon Regional Park together!
