Activities include blind tennis\, blind soccer\, blind golf\, adaptive martial arts\, adaptive swim lesson (demonstration)\, wheelchair rugby\, tennis\, power wheelchair soccer\, para fencing\, and more. \nAdditionally\, a resource fair with informational booths will be available throughout the Expo. \n“The Adaptive Sports Expo provides an essential platform for \nindividuals with disabilities to showcase their talents\, determination\, and resilience by participating in high-quality sports and physical activities\,” said City of Burbank Mayor Nick Schultz. “These invaluable recreational opportunities not only enrich the lives of participants but also foster a sense of inclusivity for the community.” \n“The City’s vision for the Burbank Adaptive Sports Expo is to develop a comprehensive\, innovative\, and diverse offering of programs which allow individuals of all ages and ability levels to participate in activities that improve quality of life\, boost self-confidence and self-esteem\, helping individuals overcome challenges and achieve personal goals. DESCRIPTION:Hearts For Sight and the Sierra Club are thrilled to invite you to continue our journey exploring the southwestern side of Griffith Park\, featuring the beautiful Cedar Grove and the Vista Del Valle Heliport area. Enjoy a delightful trek along wide\, paved roads with gentle slopes and plenty of benches—a perfect way to stay active and enjoy nature safely! \nEvent Details:\n\nDate: Sunday\, February 16\, 2025\nGathering Time: 8:30 AM at Franklin Café\nTrail Stats: 3 miles with 400 feet of gain\nTerrain: Wide\, paved trails with gentle slopes and resting spots\n\n  \n \nWe’ve chosen Griffith Park’s paved trails to keep our walk safe and enjoyable\, even when the weather is a bit wet. (Please note: Heavy rain will cancel the hike\, though we might proceed if it’s just light rain. All participants will be notified promptly.) \nSchedule:\n\n8:30 AM: Meet at Franklin Café and get ready for an exciting hike\n1:00 PM: Hike wraps up\, followed by a one-hour lunch (provided by Hearts For Sight)\nPost-Lunch: Please schedule your Access Services pickups around 2:00 PM (if possible no later than 2:30–2:45 PM)\n\nCalling All Sighted Guides:\nOur hikes are specially designed to connect visually impaired participants (VIPs) with the great outdoors\, and we need your support! It’s adaptable for all fitness levels\, ensuring that everyone can experience the benefits of this dynamic practice. \n  \n\nAs a former professional concert dancer\, Jaimee’s journey to becoming a Pilates instructor began after her diagnosis of retinitis pigmentosa. She transitioned from the stage to the studio\, blending the discipline of dance with the foundational principles of Pilates to create a movement practice that supports individuals of all body types\, abilities\, and mobility levels. \nHer mission? To guide you in building strength\, flexibility\, and body awareness through movement that fosters ease\, confidence\, and resilience.
