At 6\,000 feet near Mt. Baldy\, the lodge combines crisp alpine air\, starry nights\, and a warm\, rustic atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to hike by day and relax by the fireplace at night. \n📅 Event Details \n\nDATES: Saturday–Monday\, October 11–13\, 2025\nLOCATION: Harwood Lodge\, San Gabriel Mountains\nWHO’S INVITED: Visually impaired individuals (VIPs)\, sighted guides\, and volunteers\n\n🥾 Hiking & Lodge Life \n\nHIKING: Trail details will be shared closer to the date. Since becoming a public wilderness in 1976\, it’s been a sanctuary for wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts alike. \nThis year\, we’re doing something new:Two hikes — one gentle\, one tough!Choose the experience that’s right for you and get ready for a day of connection and exploration. \n🥾 The Tough HikeChallenge yourself on the Tapia Park Spur Trail\, one of our most adventurous routes yet! You’ll tackle about 3.8 miles of rugged single-track trail\, winding through chaparral hillsides with a 550-foot total climb. Expect narrow paths\, uneven terrain\, and beautiful mountain views. This hike is limited to 24 participants and ideal for those seeking a physical challenge. \n🌿 The Gentle HikePrefer a relaxed pace? The Gentle Hike mostly follows paved or smooth paths\, with one mildly challenging section. We’ll visit the Ann Skager Accessible Trail and enjoy rest breaks\, nature sounds\, and shaded spots. It’s less than 2 miles long and under 200 feet of elevation gain—perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy nature without the strain. \nAfterward\, we’ll come together for lunch under shaded picnic tables near the Upper Parking Lot—a chance to share stories and enjoy the day as one community. \n🚌 Transportation Options \nHFS providing bus transportation.
