second annual 3-day retreat at Harwood Lodge, presented by Hearts for Sight Foundation in collaboration with the Sierra Club!
This special weekend is all about:
✨ Exploring nature in the San Gabriel Mountains
✨ Building connections between visually impaired participants (VIPs) and sighted guides
✨ Creating memories over shared hikes, meals, and cozy lodge time
🌄 About Harwood Lodge
Just 1.5 hours from Los Angeles, Harwood Lodge (built in 1930 by the Sierra Club) offers the perfect mountain escape. At 6,000 feet near Mt. Baldy, the lodge combines crisp alpine air, starry nights, and a warm, rustic atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to hike by day and relax by the fireplace at night.

- DATES: Saturday–Monday, October 11–13, 2025
- LOCATION: Harwood Lodge, San Gabriel Mountains
- WHO’S INVITED: Visually impaired individuals (VIPs), sighted guides, and volunteers
🥾 Hiking & Lodge Life
- HIKING: Trail details will be shared closer to the date. VIPs will be paired with guides for a safe and meaningful outdoor experience.
- AT THE LODGE: After hiking, enjoy conversation, games, and group meals. Meals are included, and participants will share in meal prep, serving, and clean-up—making this retreat both fun and collaborative!
🙌 Volunteers Needed
Sighted guides are especially welcome! You may join for the entire weekend or volunteer just for the day hikes.

- Adults only (no minors).
- Service/guide dogs only (no pets).
- Spots limited to 24 participants (first come, first served).
- Transportation provided by HFS with RSVP.
