Hearts For Sight and the Sierra Club are thrilled to invite you to continue our journey exploring the southwestern side of Griffith Park, featuring the beautiful Cedar Grove and the Vista Del Valle Heliport area. Enjoy a delightful trek along wide, paved roads with gentle slopes and plenty of benches—a perfect way to stay active and enjoy nature safely!
Event Details:
- Date: Sunday, February 16, 2025
- Gathering Time: 8:30 AM at Franklin Café
- Trail Stats: 3 miles with 400 feet of gain
- Terrain: Wide, paved trails with gentle slopes and resting spots
We’ve chosen Griffith Park’s paved trails to keep our walk safe and enjoyable, even when the weather is a bit wet. (Please note: Heavy rain will cancel the hike, though we might proceed if it’s just light rain. All participants will be notified promptly.)
Schedule:
- 8:30 AM: Meet at Franklin Café and get ready for an exciting hike
- 1:00 PM: Hike wraps up, followed by a one-hour lunch (provided by Hearts For Sight)
- Post-Lunch: Please schedule your Access Services pickups around 2:00 PM (if possible no later than 2:30–2:45 PM)
Calling All Sighted Guides:
Our hikes are specially designed to connect visually impaired participants (VIPs) with the great outdoors, and we need your support! If you’re interested in being a sighted guide, know that:
- No prior experience is necessary—we provide all the training you need.
- First-time guides should contact Racquel Decipeda at 818-457-1482 for a quick orientation.
